Great Companions Puppy Placement Policy
Great
Companion puppies are only produced from a sire and dam who have had OFA
and CERF exams. Our puppies
are whelped and raised in our dinning nook between the kitchen and
family room. The pups are
handled from birth by us, and when old enough, played with by our family
including my four grandchildren and our visitors.
We believe that early socialization is very important.
Because of the location of the whelping/playpen area, the pups
are familiar with all sorts of noises from daily household activity.
We litter box train our pups, and also start clicker training as
soon as possible. Our pups are not sold by color or sex. We watch the temperaments of each pup develop as they grow. By 8 weeks of age, a puppy puzzle is performed to check for structure and temperament of each pup. A decision is then made for the best placement of each pup. I only breed to improve structure and soundness of the Mini Aussie, not to sell puppies. I select pups for my breeding program and place the rest in pet homes based on my evaluation of the puppy and the needs of the new owner. If
someone is looking for a companion for their small child or another pet,
it is not a good idea to place a high energy pup with that family.
If someone is looking for an agility prospect, then they would be
very unhappy with a laid back, sit in your lap puppy.
I hope this helps you understand why I don't sell by color or sex.
It is important to match the pup to the family lifestyle. We
start accepting deposits for our puppies as soon as the breeding takes
place. A $100 deposit will
reserve a puppy for you. If
I don't have a pup suitable for your family, the deposit is returned.
Great Companion puppies sell for $900 on a spay/neuter contract.
If you are a breeder, feel free to contact me about possible
availability of a show prospect. If
you have any questions or want to check for availability, send your
questions to: lindadb@rcn.com
